Chapter 1: The First Two

John Simons arrives at James Street approximately 9.13pm. He is a homicide detective for the NYPD investigating the murder of Gregory Lawson. He wakes up at 6 am everyday and goes to work at the office, John deals with the worst crimes and witnesses some of the most horrible murders. He is divorced and unsure where his life is going.

This crime scene was not like any other because of what the victim had written on his chest. In clear English were the words NYPD, why did the killer write these words on the body: maybe to scare the Police department. We had seen this many a time before when the killer uses messages to make fun of the police and confuse them. But this time it was different because the writing was in blood. John Simons looked closely at this and remembered seeing this on a movie once and the killer lead the police to him not away. With no hesitation he ran to the police van and opened up his laptop to check the system for past murders that fitted a similar description to that of this one. He found 48 cases and they all had blood writing on and the killer had never been uncovered. But this one was different the other cases all had silly messages talking about freedom and slavery. The police thought they were all that may have committed suicide or killed by a protester for thinking different than them.

This murder was still different because there was no case of NYPD being put on the chest of another. He and a group of detectives went back to the main headquarters to take a better look at the case and the body. Greg Hudson who was new on the team went with John to investigate the body. People were still doing tests on the body for substances and a man came up to the men and said. “We have just discovered some writing on the back of his neck saying R4-RD”. John looked closely at the writing for several minutes until he had an Idea he said “The R4 must be a location I’ve seen that on files before and the second bit must be what’s there. Until it hit him “We have a room 4 in the building and Robert Dawn is in there” Proclaimed John. They ran down the hall until Bang! Bang! Gun shots from the office block. They continued running to a broken vent shaft and Robert with two gunshot wounds.

The killer had just killed a man and got away, security tried to find him but he must have got out the loading bay. This killer had once again left blood on his chest saying “she will light the way”. The detectives were at a point of worry now, knowing that if the riddle was not figured out another life would be lost. They got sat down and discussed why the killer may right this message “What lights the way and is a Female” said Greg. John had just figured it out “Greg, she lights the way, Lady Liberty” shouted john. They ran to the patrol car with several other police officers and sped off down the road to the statue of liberty. John thought to himself and realized it had only been 3 hours ago, he was called to the crime scene and now he had a mission to save another life from this killer.
